EXPERT 1Summary:
When Augustus was born his father journeyed to the altar in the sacred grove to see what the future held for his son. When he poured wine on the altar flames shot up to the heaven's indicating that Augustus would be ruler of the world. Augustus father died and it seemed like he would have no male role model but luckily his great uncle Julius Caesar was around. Julius went to war and when his enemy retreated he declared himself master of Rome.

A- Flames shot up to the heaven's a sign seen only once before: By Alexander the Great. The priest declared that Augustus would be ruler of the world.

A- Caesar declared himself master of Rome when his enemies in war retreated.

A- The first emperor of Rome.
4. How did Antony and Cleopatra affect Augustus?
A-Augustus and Anthony had an alliance, people thought Cleopatra wanted to take over. Antony and Augustus ended up fighting, three fleets were destroyed in Egypt and Antony and Cleopatra killed themselves, making Egypt part of the Roman Empire.

A- By clothing laws.

A- Heredity, property, wealth, roman citizenship and freedom.

A- Senator would govern the body (republic) and was in control of the laws.

A- They were elected by the empire, and were people who dominated the political, religious, and military leadership of the empire, they were wealthy landowners.
9. What class did the equestrian class form?
A- They formed the cavalry.
10. What were some appropriate occupations?
A- Tax collector, bankers, miners, exporters, and administrators of public contracts such as road and aqueduct building.
11. What is the plebian?
A- It refers to all free roman citizens who are not part of the government partisans are equestrian.
12. What kind of jobs did they have?
A- Farmers, bankers, builders, and artisans.
13. From what background did slaves come from?
A- They were foreigners.
14. How well did they fit into society?
A- They merged so well senate once considered a plan to distinguish them by special dress.
15. When was Caesar assassinated?
A- In 44 BC

A- ca. 6-4
